Multiple rooms, one outdoor unit.
A multi split system uses a single outdoor unit to serve between two and eight indoor units spread across different rooms or zones. Each indoor unit connects back to the outdoor unit via its own set of refrigerant pipes, all running from a single outdoor condenser/compressor.
This arrangement reduces the number of outdoor units needed — particularly valuable where wall or roof space for multiple condensers is limited. Each indoor unit operates independently via its own remote control, giving occupants the ability to adjust each zone to their preference.
Multi split systems are well-suited to townhouses, apartments, and small commercial spaces where separate comfort zones are desired but a single outdoor unit location is more practical or aesthetically preferred. The outdoor unit is typically larger than a single split system to handle the combined load.

One outdoor unit on the roof or rear wall serves every floor independently.
